aIR QUALITY IMPROVEMENTS
Condensation occurs where warm moist air comes into contact with cold surfaces, causing water to deposit on the surface. This may lead to issues such as damp, mould or mildew patches on internal walls and window reveals, streaming windows, and a musty unpleasant damp smell and the feeling of cold damp air.
The causes of condensation include poor internal ventilation, excess moisture in the air, poorly heated homes and the type of materials used in the original construction. These all result in the build-up of stale and moist air. Poor air quality can lead to a number of health issues, particularly for young children and those with lung related disorders.
There are a number of steps that we can take to help target the issue of condensation and poor air quality in your home.
This might include installing air bricks externally to ventilate an unventilated sub-floor void, installing vents internally at high level in rooms or in your roof space. If the required, we can install passive ventilation units to provide continuous air change, replacing stale air with fresh. Such measures would need to be in conjunction with the homeowner/tenants taking steps to reduce the amount of excess moisture generated by household activities, such as drying clothes indoors and regulating the heating.
